SUMM IT UP

Spa Reboot with Emily Richardson

Episode Summary

In today's Instagram and Zoom-driven world, we’re seeing renewed consumer interest in services like skin care, waxing, and injectables - especially among young people. This just might be the time to reinvigorate your salon company’s sleepy spa division, or start a new one. In this episode, SSBC Spa Consultant Emily Richardson provides insight for creating a spa that aligns with your brand and brings in a profit.

Episode Notes

If you owned a hair salon in the late 90’s or early 2000’s, chances are good you bought some machines, hired some estheticians, and added “and Spa” to your business name… or at least thought about it. Over the last two decades many of those “and spas” have gone neglected, or been renovated for more hair stations. But in today’s Instagram and Zoom-driven world, we’re seeing renewed consumer interest in services like skin care, waxing, and injectables - especially among people in their 20s and 30s.

In this episode, host Blake Reed Evans sits down with Emily Richardson for a 101 on how to recharge your salon’s spa division, or start one from scratch. Emily is an  SSBC Spa Consultant, and General Manager/Co-Owner of Bella Trio Salon and Spa in Durham, North Carolina. From hiring service providers, to mastering social media, to investing in those costly machines, this conversation is packed full of practical advice aimed at helping you build and run the spa that’s right for your salon company.

On December 10th and 11th, 2021, at least 59 devastating tornadoes ripped through parts of six states in the South and Midwest. People who work in the salon and spa industries in affected areas have seen their homes and businesses destroyed. The Professional Beauty Association is collecting donations for immediate needs including clothing, food, bills, supplies & tool replacement. You can make a tax-deductible donation at www.probeauty.org/pba-charities/drf
